The Highlands Ranch Falcons couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They took a 59-40 bruising from Cherokee Trail on Tuesday. Highlands Ranch lost against Cherokee Trail in their previous head to head back in November of 2022, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 56-45 score last time.
Several Falcons players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Tori Baker, who scored 9 points along with 3 steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Kniyah Dumas, who scored 14 points along with 7 rebounds.
Cherokee Trail's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Delainey Miller, who scored 19 points along with 9 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Madeline Gibbs, who scored 13 points along with 6 rebounds.
Highlands Ranch's loss dropped their record down to 0-1. As for Cherokee Trail, their win bumped their record up to 1-0.
Highlands Ranch will take on DSST: Conservatory Green at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Cherokee Trail, they will be playing at home against Pueblo West at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
