Central is a perfect 7-0 against Altoona since April of 2016 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Saturday. The Dragons will head out to square off against the Mountain Lions at 11:00 a.m. Altoona took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Central, who comes in off a win.
Central will roll into the game after a wild two-game stretch: they didn't score any runs on Tuesday, then bounced right back against Greater Johnstown on Thursday. The Dragons put the hurt on the Trojans with a sharp 16-0 victory. That looming 16-0 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Dragons yet this season.

Kailyn Gahagan made a splash no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in strikeouts (five). She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Alexis Fetzer was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs, two stolen bases, and three RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in May of 2024. Aubrey Rhodes was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI.
Central hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their strikeout total in three consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, Altoona was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-2 heartbreaker at the hands of Mifflin County.
Altoona saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Natalie Baker, who went 2-for-3 with one RBI. Mary Worley also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Altoona's defeat dropped their record down to 1-9. As for Central, their win ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 4-7.
Central took their victory against Altoona when the teams last played back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 8-1 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Dragons since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
