Basketball Recap: Carver Piles Up the Points Against Shaw

Carver barely beat Shaw the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Carver Tigers really took it to the Shaw Raiders for the full four quarters, racking up a 91-40 win. The Tigers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won ten matches by 31 points or more this season.

Carver got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Tobiaz Tolbert out in front who almost dropped a triple-double on nine points, 12 boards, and 11 blocks. Tolbert is on a roll when it comes to blocks, as he's now posted two or more in the last four games he's played. Tony Montgomery was another key player, going 6 for 9 on his way to 13 points and seven steals.

Carver smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 12 offensive boards in four consecutive contests.

Shaw's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Alenzo Talley, who posted 17 points, and Javi Moore, who scored 15 points.

Carver pushed their record up to 14-2 with the win, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 42.4 points. As for Shaw, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-11.

Carver didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 77-42 victory against Shaw on the 25th. Shaw has also already played their next matchup (against Carver), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
