On Friday, the Roosevelt Roughriders faced the McKinley Tech Trainers in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Roosevelt fell to the Trainers 35-30. Roosevelt was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Trainers apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in December of 2023.
McKinley Tech's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jemima Bomoyi, who scored 12 points along with six rebounds and five steals. Bomoyi is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last six games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Kamille Fisher, who scored three points along with nine rebounds and three blocks.
Roosevelt has traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-9 record this season. As for McKinley Tech, the victory got them back to even at 9-9.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Roosevelt will take on the Indians at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in District of Columbia (Anacostia is ranked eighth, while the Roughriders are ranked 14th). As for McKinley Tech, their homestand continues as they prepare to take on the Bulldogs at 5:30 p.m. on February 5th.
