Baseball Recap: Berkshire Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Victory

Berkshire had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6.3 runs) and they went ahead and made it four on Wednesday. They were the clear victors by an 11-1 margin over the Cardinal Huskies. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 5-0 on Monday.

Holden Hedrick made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. Hedrick was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run.

In other batting news, Sam Barcikoski and Patrick Brancel did most of the damage at the plate: Barcikoski got on base in two of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases and three runs, while Brancel got on base in all three of his plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Brancel is becoming a predictor of Berkshire's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 3-1 (and 1-8 when he doesn't). Bear Masink was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

Berkshire's win bumped their record up to 4-9. As for Cardinal, they are on an eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-14.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Berkshire will challenge Beachwood at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Cardinal, they will head out to take on Lakeside at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
