Avon Old Farms faced Putnam Science Academy in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. The Beavers narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Putnam Science Academy 3-1. The victory was familiar territory for the Beavers, who have now won four contests in a row.

Avon Old Farms' win bumped their record up to 15-3. As for Putnam Science Academy, they dropped their record down to 8-9 with the loss, which was their fifth straight on the road.

Looking ahead, Avon Old Farms will challenge Westminster School at 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Beavers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Martlets have averaged an impressive 6.7 runs per game this season. As for Putnam Science Academy, they will face off against Varsity Opponent at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
