On Friday Melbourne take on Marshall at 7:00 PM. Melbourne don't have the home-field advantage, but they do enjoy an advantage in the MaxPreps rankings.
If Melbourne were riding high off their 47-14 takedown of Yellville-Summit two weeks ago, that ride came to an abrupt end. Last Friday, Melbourne came up short against Clinton, falling 26-35. Melbourne got a solid performance out of junior Gabe Lawrence, who passed for 356 yards and 3 touchdowns; unfortunately, it just wasn't enough for the victory. Lawrence has been a consistent playmaker for Melbourne as this was the 5th good game in a row from him.
Meanwhile, Marshall have had to suffer through a four-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They were the clear victor by a 28-7 margin over Cedar Ridge. Marshall were expected to win, but the margin was definitely larger than the state rankings had forecast.
Melbourne simply couldn't be stopped the last time the two teams met, as they easily beat Marshall 49-12. The rematch might be a little tougher for Melbourne since the team won't have home-field advantage. Watch the game and check back on MaxPreps to see if the change in venue makes a difference.
