Sutherland jumped into the top 25 in the state rankings. Sutherland moved up from No. 29 in the state all the way to No. 22 thanks to a 1-0 record over the past week. Led by manager Jim Capellupo, the Knights are ranked No. 1163 in the nation with an overall record of 19-2.
Section 5 Monroe County III's longest active winning streak belongs to the Knights (19-2, 9-1), undefeated over their last seven games. One of those wins came in the past week, an 11-1 victory over Geneva.
Grant Heyman's hot bat led the team this week, as he racked up three hits and two RBIs.
Sutherland's pitching staff dominated this week, allowing only four hits and two walks, both of which led the league. The Knights have given up a mere 94 hits on the year, while striking out 145 opposing hitters.
John Meuchner is the leader in that category with 53 Ks on the season.
