The Pleasantville Greyhounds waltzed into their contest on Tuesday with two straight wins but they left with three. They managed a 55-51 victory over Wildwood. The victory was all the more spectacular given Pleasantville's disadvantage in MaxPreps' New Jersey basketball rankings (they are ranked 333rd, while Wildwood is ranked 140th).
Several Warriors players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Brian Cunniff, who scored 12 points along with nine rebounds and two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Junior Hans, who scored 13 points along with seven rebounds.
Pleasantville pushed their record up to 7-8 with that victory, which was their third straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.0 points per game. As for Wildwood, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-6.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Pleasantville will take on Absegami at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Absegami has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 489 points over their last seven games. Wildwood will be staying on the road on Thursday to face off against Penns Grove at 5:30 p.m. on January 25th. Penns Grove is coming into the match on a three-game losing streak.
