Copiah Academy stacked a fifth blowout onto their ever-increasing hoard two weeks ago. They blew past Wayne Academy 35-7 on the road. The win was nothing new for Copiah Academy as they're now sitting on three straight.
Lamar fell on hard times earlier this season, but after back-to-back wins it seems like their luck might finally be changing. They took down Magnolia Heights 35-20 on Friday.
Lamar's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Wyatt Bond, who threw for 240 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 10.9 yards per attempt. The team also got some help courtesy of Kellen Kerley, who rushed for 61 yards and two touchdowns.
Copiah Academy's win bumped their record up to 8-2. As for Lamar, their win was their sixth straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 8-3.
Copiah Academy came up short against Lamar when the teams last played back in September, falling 14-7. Can Copiah Academy avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
