Basketball Recap: Gavin Rendle Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Acalanes

Acalanes typically has all the answers at home, but on Friday Campolindo proved too difficult a challenge. They were the clear victor by a 57-37 margin over the Acalanes Dons. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Cougars also won the last time the pair played back in January of 2024.

Campolindo's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Gavin Rendle led the charge by going 6 of 10 en route to 16 points. What's more, Rendle also racked up two blocks, the most he's had since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Ren Marchetti, who posted 13 points.

Campolindo has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 15-6 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.9 points per game. As for Acalanes, with the defeat, they broke their eight-game winning streak and moved their record to 15-5.

Campolindo will take on Clayton Valley Charter at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. That matchup will pit two of the most dominant guards against one another: Elijah Perryman and Rendle. As for Acalanes, they will challenge Mt. Diablo at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Acalanes is facing Mt. Diablo at the right time seeing as Mt. Diablo is stuck on a 17-game losing streak.
