The Harrison Raiders will square off against the Lebanon Tigers at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams are strolling into their matchups after big wins in their previous games.
Harrison's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. Everything went their way against Lafayette Jefferson as they made off with a 10-0 victory. The win continues a trend for the Raiders in their matchups with the Bronchos: they've now won six in a row.
Chase Gothrup tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run while striking out seven over five innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run any time he's pitched this season.
At the plate, Nolan Hodnett was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Kendrick Pena, who went 1-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Lebanon, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. They put the hurt on Crawfordsville with a sharp 11-1 victory on Saturday. With that win, the Tigers brought their scoring average up to 6.2 runs per game.
Elijah Gibboney looked comfortable as he tossed four innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Lebanon is undefeated when Gibboney allows one or fewer earned runs, but 2-8 otherwise.
On the hitting side, Camden Hawkins was a standout: he got on base in all three of his plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jacob Linton, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run.
Lebanon always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .567. They are 2-1 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Lebanon's victory bumped their record up to 5-8. As for Harrison, the win got them back to even at 6-6.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Harrison has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.8 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Lebanon struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 3.6 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
