Caravel extended the longest winning streak in Freelance this week by beating Lake Forest, 42-12. This was the team's ninth consecutive win.
Archmere Academy and Delaware Military Academy played the most hotly contested game in the league this week, with Archmere Academy eventually emerging with a 27-24 victory. Brian Rogers threw for 195 yards and ran for 58 yards in the win.
Derrick Groomes and Pierce Ripanti gave Caravel a balanced attack through the air and ground last week. Groomes threw for 183 yards and two touchdowns, while Ripanti ran for 148 yards. Teammate Aaron Hudson added to the ground attack by rushing for 41 yards.
Jake Schneider was the best wideout in the league this week as St. Mark's beat St. Elizabeth. Schneider tallied six receptions for 109 yards. Deandre Davis helped St. Mark's' passing attack out by catching four balls for 75 yards.
The Vikings' Christian Gwynn and Andre Patton have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading Freelance in both passing and receiving yards. Gwynn has thrown for 1369 yards this season, while Patton, a 6-foot-4 receiver, has 43 catches for 658 yards. John Reed's team's Ripanti leads the league in rushing yards with 930.
The marquee game in the league this week will be the clash between St. Elizabeth and the Auks. Joe Hemphill's team comes into the matchup ranked 15th in the state, while Archmere Academy ranks 11th.
The Buccaneers took down the Spartans 42-12 last week, the largest margin of any game. Groomes in the win.
