After having lost a blowout in their previous game against St. Charles, the Lackey Chargers were happy to have found some success on Wednesday. They walked away with a 37-29 win over Thomas Stone. This was payback for Lackey, who suffered a 37-31 loss the last time these two teams met.
Several Cougars players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Makaiya Tucker, who scored 17 points. That was a full 58.6% of Thomas Stone's points, marking the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Destini Shorts, who scored four points along with seven rebounds and five blocks.
Lackey's win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 6-9. As for Thomas Stone, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 7-9.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lackey's homestand continues as they prepare to take on the Raiders at 6:30 p.m. on February 7th. Thomas Stone will take on the Patriots at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Northern focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 22 on Wednesday.
