The Ottawa-Glandorf Titans will head out on the road to square off against the Miller City Wildcats at 5:00 a.m. on Monday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Ottawa-Glandorf is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They put the hurt on Upper Scioto Valley with a sharp 15-7 win on Saturday. The result was nothing new for the Titans, who have now won three games by six runs or more so far this season.
Addie Kitchen made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out nine batters over seven innings while giving up four earned (and three unearned) runs off five hits. Kitchen was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 3-for-5. She also brought in three RBI, marking her first of the season.
In other batting news, Ottawa-Glandorf let Libbie Niese and Hailey Leopold run wild. Niese scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-5, while Leopold scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4. Those hits were Niese's first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Haley Meyer, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4.
Ottawa-Glandorf always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .532. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Upper Scioto Valley only posted an OBP of .351.
Meanwhile, Miller City hadn't done well against Allen East recently (they were 0-3 in their previous three matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Wildcats sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 7-6 victory over the Mustangs. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Wildcats.
Karlee Gilgenbach spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and two unearned) runs on six hits and racked up nine Ks. Those nine strikeouts set a new season-high mark for her.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Teagan Rieman, who scored three runs and stole five bases while getting on base in two of her four plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Bailey David, who scored a run and stole three bases while going 1-for-3.
Ottawa-Glandorf's record is now 3-4. As for Miller City, they now have a winning record of 5-4.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Monday as neither team is afraid to steal. Ottawa-Glandorf has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.6 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Miller City struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 4.1 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Ottawa-Glandorf suffered a grim 13-2 defeat to Miller City in their previous matchup back in April of 2023. Can the Titans avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
