Basketball Recap: Unioto Drops Season-High Score on Westfall

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Unioto). They claimed a resounding 89-27 win over the Westfall Mustangs. The Shermans have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 13 matchups by 28 points or more this season.

Unioto got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Milee Smith out in front who almost dropped a double-double on 24 points and nine boards. Smith has been hot, having posted nine or more rebounds the last eight times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Mya Hamilton, who went 8 of 16 on her way to 23 points in addition to eight steals and seven boards.

Unioto was working as a unit and finished the game with 23 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

The win was the sixth in a row for Unioto, bringing their record for this year to 16-4. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 35.7 points. As for Westfall, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 9-11.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Unioto will welcome Paint Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The timing is sure in Unioto's favor as the squad sits on seven straight wins at home while Paint Valley has been banged up by three consecutive losses on the road. Westfall has already played their next contest (against Piketon), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
