The Waskom Wildcats will head out on the road to challenge the Elysian Fields Yellowjackets at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Elysian Fields took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Waskom, who comes in off a win.
On Friday, Waskom beat the Tigers 42-32. The win was just what Waskom needed coming off of a 84-31 defeat in their prior contest.
Meanwhile, Elysian Fields' recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their 12th straight defeat. Their tough 52-26 defeat to Troup might stick with them for a while. While losing is never fun, Elysian Fields can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1492nd, while the Tigers are ranked 733rd).
Despite their loss, Elysian Fields saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. McKenzie LeBlanc, who scored nine points, was perhaps the best of all. Kerrigan Love was another key contributor, scoring seven points.
Waskom's victory bumped their record up to 12-14. As for Elysian Fields, they dropped their record down to 4-28 with that loss, which was their eighth straight on the road.
Everything came up roses for Waskom against the Yellowjackets in their previous matchup back in January as the squad secured a 47-18 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Waskom since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
