You can't lose the match if you win every quarter, and that was precisely Sussex County Tech's strategy against Bergen Tech on Thursday. Sussex County Tech took the contest and then some with a 42-6 win on Thursday over Bergen Tech. Sussex County Tech were expected to win, but the margin was definitely larger than the state rankings had forecast.
Sussex County Tech started the game off right with 28 first-half points. Meanwhile, Bergen Tech couldn't get anything going offensively, leaving the score at 28-0 heading into the break. The Sussex County Tech defense stood its ground in the third quarter, giving up 6 and all but finishing the game.
Junior Brendan Hall was the offensive standout of the match for Sussex County Tech, as he rushed for 120 yards and 2 touchdowns. Additional support came from defensive powerhouse senior Danton Hall, who racked up 11 tackles. The victory bumped Sussex County Tech's record up to 4-3. Bergen Tech are still searching for that first win as they fell to 0-7.
Next week Sussex County Tech take on Immaculate Conception at 1:00 PM. As for Bergen Tech, they will face off against Clifton. Neither of these teams wants a repeat from their last game since each was dealt a considerable loss.
