Softball Recap: Friday's Win Is East Central's Eighth in Last Nine Outings

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only East Central walked away with it. They were the clear victors by a 12-6 margin over the Lake Travis Cavaliers on Friday. The Hornets might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 16 matches by six runs or more this season.

Jenise Ramirez made a splash no matter where she played. She pitched 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off four hits. Ramirez was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March.

In other pitching news, East Central got a great performance from Nevaeh Garza as she tossed 4.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits.

Back at the plate, East Central let Izzy Estrada and Isabella Hernandez run wild. Estrada went 3-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double, while Hernandez went 3-for-4 with four RBI. That's the most RBI Hernandez has posted since back in February. Kyana Escobedo-Lipardo also deserves some recognition as she hit her first doubles of the season.

East Central was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .379. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .321 or higher in three consecutive contests.

East Central is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine games. That's provided a nice bump to their 22-11 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.6 runs on average over those games. As for Lake Travis, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 21-11-1.

As of now, neither East Central nor the Cavaliers have any future games scheduled.
