Volleyball Recap: Escondido Charter Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from AUDREY CAHILL and ALAINA CASTRONOVO

The Escondido Charter Tigers didn't have quite enough to beat the Rock Academy Warriors on Thursday and fell 3-2.

Escondido Charter wouldn't go down easily and took Rock Academy into a fifth set but they suffered a heartbreaking three-point loss. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 22-25, 25-11, 25-14, 17-25, 15-12.

Escondido Charter's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of ALAINA CASTRONOVO, who had 23 digs, and AUDREY CAHILL, who had 14 digs, six kills, and two aces. CASTRONOVO has been hot recently, having posted 17 or more digs the last three times she's played.

Among those leading the charge was Ocean Tice, who had 16 digs and two assists. That's the most assists she has posted over her last five matches.

Escondido Charter's loss was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 15-7. As for Rock Academy, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 11-3.

Escondido Charter has already played their next matchup, a 3-1 victory against Del Lago Academy on the 23rd. As for Rock Academy, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 3-0 defeat against Foothills Christian on the 25th.
