Baseball Recap: Fonda-Fultonville Extends Home Winning Streak to Seven

Fonda-Fultonville came out on top against Mayfield on Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive five-run fourth inning. The Valley Hawks never let the Panthers get on the board and left with a 10-0 win. The Valley Hawks haven't had any issues with the Panthers recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive victory against them.

Jacob Sheldon made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit over four innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Sam Huckans, who went 1-for-3 with three runs and one stolen base. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jake Hernigle, who went 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Fonda-Fultonville always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .517. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Mayfield only posted an OBP of .188.

Fonda-Fultonville's win was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-5. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.1 runs on average over those games. As for Mayfield, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-11.
