Memorial is 10-0 against Van Wert since December of 2015, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Thursday. The Memorial Roughriders will be playing at home against the Van Wert Cougars at 7:30 p.m. Memorial will be looking to keep their four-game home win streak (dating back to last season) alive.
Memorial suffered their biggest loss since November 30, 2023 on Thursday. Their tough 49-27 loss to Ottawa-Glandorf might stick with them for a while. While losing is never fun, Memorial can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 309th, while Ottawa-Glandorf is ranked 18th).
Meanwhile, Van Wert's three-game losing streak came to an end on Tuesday. They came out on top against Paulding by a score of 57-47.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Van Wert to victory, but perhaps none more so than Kendra Deehring, who scored 18 points along with four steals. Another player making a difference was jordanne blythe, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 12 rebounds.
Memorial has been struggling recently, as they've lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-6 record this season. As for Van Wert, their win ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-10.
Memorial didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Van Wert in their previous matchup back in February of 2023, but they still walked away with a 37-31 win. Will Memorial repeat their success, or does Van Wert have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
