The Azusa Aztecs lost against the Nogales Nobles back in February of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. Azusa was outmatched by Nogales at home and fell 54-26. Azusa was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 36-14.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Nogales to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jayden Salas, who scored 17 points. Another player making a difference was Shehab Elkambari, who scored 12 points.
Azusa's loss was their fourth straight at home, which bumped their record down to 8-10. As for Nogales, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 10-11.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Azusa will face off against Duarte at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Nogales' road trip will continue as they head out to face Workman at 6:00 p.m. on January 17th.
