After flying high against the Horton Chargers last Thursday, the Pleasant Ridge Rams came back down to earth. Pleasant Ridge ended up on the wrong side of a rough 55-32 walloping at the hands of Riverside [Wathena/Elwood] on Friday. While losing is never fun, Pleasant Ridge can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 137th, while Riverside [Wathena/Elwood] is ranked 50th).
When it comes to explaining why Pleasant Ridge lost, one person who can't be blamed is Mia Ernzen. Despite the final result, she scored 13 points along with nine rebounds. Another player making a difference was Ava Potter, who scored four points along with two steals.
Pleasant Ridge's defeat dropped their record down to 5-3. As for Riverside [Wathena/Elwood], the victory for they keeps them at an undefeated 9-0.
Pleasant Ridge won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Cair Paravel at 12:00 p.m. on January 20th. Cair Paravel comes in still looking for their first win of the season. Riverside [Wathena/Elwood] won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Atchison-Maur Hill-Mount Academy on January 20th. Atchison-Maur Hill-Mount Academy is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
