After three games on the road, Selma is heading back home. They will take on The Jemison Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Last Thursday, Selma was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 24-20 to Shelby County.
Despite the defeat, Selma saw an underclassman step up: Desmeon Conner picked up 91 receiving yards and a touchdown. Conner was no stranger to the big play, cutting upfield for a catch that went for 65 yards. Jason Rogers made the highlight reel by snagging an interception and taking it all the way to the house.
Even if they lost, Selma's defense still kept up the pressure with seven sacks. The heavy lifting was done by Ameire Eaton and Kristan Moore who racked up four sacks between them.
Meanwhile, Jemison's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their sixth straight loss. They were outmatched by Demopolis on the road and fell 48-14. Jemison was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 27-0.
Selma has been struggling this season, as they've lost seven of their first eight games, which leaves them at a 1-7 record this season. As for Jemison, their loss dropped their record down to 1-6.
Everything went Selma's way against Jemison when the teams last played back in October of 2022 as Selma made off with a 40-17 victory. Will Selma repeat their success, or does Jemison have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
