After having lost a blowout in their previous game against San Rafael, the Sonoma Valley Dragons were happy to have found some success on Saturday. They secured a 53-48 W over Hercules. Given Sonoma Valley's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 529th, while Hercules is ranked 1064th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Sonoma Valley's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Will Breall, who scored 22 points along with 5 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Hudson Giarritta, who dropped a double-double on 10 points and 11 rebounds.
Sonoma Valley's win bumped their record up to 4-2. As for Hercules, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-5.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Sonoma Valley will challenge Analy at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Hercules, they will head out on the road to face off against El Cerrito at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. El Cerrito comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
