5A Centennial recap September 24, 2013
Cherry Creek took down Denver East 48-0 last week, the largest margin of any game. Cameron Brucker threw for 238 yards and 4 touchdowns in the win.
Grandview led 5A Centennial in scoring this week after putting up 51 points on Mullen. Ben Marshall ran for 242 yards during the win.
Overland's dynamic duo of Austin Conway and Khalil Jenkins proved tough for Poudre to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Conway threw for 468 yards and 5 touchdowns and Jenkins had 204 yards receiving. AJ Roper helped Overland's passing attack out by catching 6 balls for 127 yards.
The Trailblazers' dynamic duo of Conway and Jenkins proved to be unstoppable against the Impalas, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week.
Marshall was the most successful running back in the league this week. Teammate Isaiah Lang added to the ground attack by rushing for 33 yards.
He went 21-26 with 0 interception.
Conway put up the best numbers in passing as Overland topped Poudre.
Hayden Porter was a key player and the best on defense this week as the Wolves defeated the Mustangs. The 5-foot-9 senior.
Marshall was a force in the backfield as Grandview defeated Mullen.
Jenkins was the best wideout in the league this week as Seth Replogle's team beat Dan Reardon's team.
Overland's offense cannot be tamed this season and the Trailblazers feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Conway has thrown for 1,251 yards and 13 touchdowns this season, while Jenkins has 17 catches for 419 yards. Conway also leads the league in rushing with 514 yards.
The top two teams in the league will face off this week when first place Grandview takes on second place Eaglecrest. John Schultz's team beat Tom Thenell's team last week, while Eaglecrest topped Fossil Ridge.
Smoky Hill lost in the closest game of the week to 47-43 Standley Lake. In the loss.
