The Rhodes Rams suffered their biggest defeat yet this season on Tuesday. They were dealt a 69-16 defeat at the hands of John Hay. Rhodes was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 49-14.
Despite the defeat, Rhodes saw an underclassman step up: Betsaida Byrd scored ten points.
Tylia Parker continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for John Hay, dropping a double-double on 33 points and ten steals. Parker is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Avery Carr, who scored 20 points along with five steals.
Rhodes bumped their record down to 5-5 with that defeat, which was their third straight on the road. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 26.7 points per game. As for John Hay, the win (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 8-2.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Rhodes will square off against Bard Early College at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Bard Early College is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak. As for John Hay, they will head out on the road to take on Lakewood at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Ohio (Lakewood is ranked 361st, while John Hay is ranked 362nd).
