Douglas County West hasn't had much luck against Wahoo recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Falcon will head out to square off against the Warriors at 7:00 p.m. The matchup will give Douglas County West their first taste of in-conference action this season.
Last Friday, Douglas County West was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 19-14 to Roncalli Catholic.
Although Douglas County West took the loss, they still got scores from Ashton Harlow and Barrett Hinrichs.
Meanwhile, Wahoo got themselves on the board against Gross Catholic on Friday, but Gross Catholic never followed suit. They blew past the Cougars 49-0. Fans of the Warriors have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 20+ points.
Douglas County West better keep an eye on Kip Brigham. He was instrumental in Wahoo's win, rushing for 258 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 16.1 yards per carry, and also catching one score. Brigham really tore up the turf during one magnificent 71-yard run.
Wahoo was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 356 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in November of 2024.
Wahoo's defense made their presence known, laying out the QB three times. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Logan Kelly, Eli Shada, and Jack Krueger, who each picked up one sack apiece.
Wahoo's record now sits at 4-0. As for Douglas County West, their loss dropped their record down to 1-3.
Douglas County West was dealt a bruising 50-0 defeat at the hands of Wahoo in their previous meeting back in November of 2024. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Brigham, who rushed for 253 yards and three TDs on only eight carries, and also picked up 81 receiving yards and one score. Now that the Falcon know the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? There's only one way to find out.
