Softball Recap: Westside's Losing Streak Snapped at Four Games

After low-scoring totals in their previous four contests, Westside brought some dynamite into their most recent game. Everything went their way against the Houston Math Science & Tech Tigers on Friday as they made off with an 18-10 win. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Wolves as it put an end to their four-game losing streak.

Westside got a massive performance out of Audrey Salgado, who scored three runs and stole three bases while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. Those three runs gave Salgado a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Cheney Mobley, who went 2-for-5 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple.

Westside always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .595. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in four consecutive contests.

Westside picked up their first home win, bumping their record up to 2-11. As for Houston Math Science & Tech, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-7.

Westside will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Heights at 4:30 p.m. on the 17th. As for Houston Math Science & Tech, they will welcome Wisdom at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Generals have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 17.8 runs per game on average), something the Tigers will no doubt try to take advantage of.
