Deer Trail extended the longest winning streak in A-6 Southeast (6 Man) this week by beating South Baca [Campo/Vilas/Pritchett], 71-6. This was the team's seventh consecutive win.
Liberty/Stratton made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 321 from 410. The improvement was the result of 62-35 victory over Kit Carson last week.
Deer Trail's dynamic duo of Jeremiah "J.T." Pisel and Preston "DUECE" Turecek proved tough for the Patriots to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Pisel threw for 84 yards and one touchdown and Turecek had 88 yards receiving. Corey Haight helped Deer Trail's passing attack out by catching two balls for 34 yards.
Josh Johnson was the most productive running back in the league this week. In 11 carries, he ran for 133 yards as the Eagles topped South Baca [Campo/Vilas/Pritchett]. Kyle English also contributed to the rushing game with 127 yards on the ground.
The Eagles' Pisel and Turecek have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Pisel has thrown for 1255 yards this season, while Turecek, a 5-foot-11 receiver, has 34 catches for 722 yards. Liberty/Stratton's English leads the league in rushing yards with 794.
The marquee game in A-6 Southeast (6 Man) this week will be the clash between Toby Kechter's team and Deer Trail. The Eagles enters the game ranked 21st in the state, while the Eagles ranks eighth.
There should be lots of points scored when Liberty/Stratton and Deer Trail face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, the Eagles comes in having scored 368 this season, while the Eagles have scored 414. Liberty/Stratton scored 62 points last week as it bested the Wildcats.
