The Brevard Blue Devils waltzed into their matchup Thursday with two straight wins but they left with three. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Smoky Mountain and snuck past 58-55. That's two games straight that Brevard has won by exactly three points.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Brevard to victory, but perhaps none more so than Tre Crite, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 12 rebounds. That makes it ten consecutive games in which Crite has scored at least 25% of Brevard's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ben Kessinger, who scored 12 points along with eight rebounds and three blocks.
Custer Prenger and Ben Brown certainly did their best on Thursday to try and avoid the loss. Prenger dropped a double-double on 17 points and 11 rebounds, while Brown scored 17 points along with eight rebounds. Brown also grabbed two steals for the first time this season. Another player making a difference was Lane Wike, who scored ten points along with seven rebounds.
Brevard now has a winning record of 6-5. As for Smoky Mountain, their loss dropped their record down to 2-9.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games.
