The Valdosta Wildcats entered their tilt with the Richmond Hill Wildcats with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. Valdosta took down Richmond Hill 67-51 on Friday. Given Valdosta's advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 54th, while Richmond Hill is ranked 365th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Valdosta got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Eric Love out in front who scored 20 points along with five assists. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Love has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Israel Jenrette, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 15 rebounds.
Valdosta has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 17-5 record this season. As for Richmond Hill, their loss dropped their record down to 4-18.
Valdosta won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Lowndes at 7:30 p.m. on January 27th. Lowndes is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 52.8 points per game. As for Richmond Hill, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Camden County at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Camden County and Richmond Hill are at an even 5-5 over their past ten head-to-heads.
