Basketball Game Preview: Smithsburg Leopards vs. Winters Mill Falcons

The Smithsburg Leopards just played last yesterday, but they'll still welcome the Winters Mill Falcons at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Smithsburg is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 55.1 points per game this season.

Smithsburg is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They breezed by Boonsboro to the tune of 72-34 on Monday. The Leopards have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five games by 23 points or more this season.

Smithsburg's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Skyla Mastronardi, who dropped a double-double on 24 points and ten boards. With that strong performance, Mastronardi is now averaging an impressive 15.7 points per game. Another player making a difference was Claire Bono, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 11 rebounds.

Smithsburg smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in seven consecutive matches.

Meanwhile, Winters Mill came up short against South Carroll on Friday, falling 64-44. The Falcons have struggled against the Cavaliers recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.

Smithsburg's win was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 8-2. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.5 points per game. As for Winters Mill, they now have a losing record at 4-5.
