After losing to the Vanlue Wildcats the last time they met, the St. Joseph Central Catholic Crimson Streaks decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. St. Joseph Central Catholic enjoyed a cozy 67-51 win over Vanlue on Friday. That looming 67-51 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for St. Joseph Central Catholic yet this season.
It was another big night for Cooper Talikka, who scored 25 points along with five steals. The match was his seventh in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Clay Stull, who scored 13 points along with three steals.
Despite the loss, Vanlue saw an underclassman step up: Owen Roszman scored 27 points along with eight rebounds and three steals. Roszman scored a full 52.9% of Vanlue's points, the sixth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points.
St. Joseph Central Catholic's win ended a four-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 3-4. As for Vanlue, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-6.
Coincidentally, the pair will both be playing Lakota the next time they take the court. Vanlue will head out to face Lakota at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, while St. Joseph Central Catholic will head out to face them at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
