The Eureka Vandals put another one in the bag on Saturday to keep their perfect season alive. They claimed a resounding 67-33 win over Mineral County at home. The result was nothing new for Eureka, who have now won five matchups by 27 points or more so far this season.
Mineral County's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was DeVayne Isom, who scored nine points along with six rebounds and five assists. Isom scored a full 27.3% of Mineral County's points, the fifth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaevaun Jones, who scored ten points.
Eureka pushed their record up to 8-0 with that victory, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season. As for Mineral County, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-4 record this season.
Eureka will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Carlin at 7:30 p.m. on January 5, 2024. Carlin will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Nevada Rankings (they are ranked 112th, while Eureka is ranked eighth). As for Mineral County, they will head out on the road to face off against South Tahoe at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday.
