The Moapa Valley Pirates will head out on the road to face off against the Virgin Valley Bulldogs at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Moapa Valley posted their closest victory yet this season on Friday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Somerset Sky Pointe and snuck past 57-54. The win was just what Moapa Valley needed coming off of a 105-46 loss in their prior match.
Brigham Whitmore was the offensive standout of the game as he dropped a double-double on 16 points and 11 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Noah Christensen, who scored nine points along with six steals and five assists.
Virgin Valley posted their biggest victory since November 30, 2023 on Friday. They breezed by Cristo Rey St. Viator at home to the tune of 79-40. With Virgin Valley ahead 55-17 at the half, the contest was all but over already.
Virgin Valley's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Cameron Wright, who scored 13 points along with five rebounds. Another player making a difference was Elian Pinto, who scored nine points.
Moapa Valley's victory bumped their record up to 4-12-1. As for Virgin Valley, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-8.
Moapa Valley came up short against Virgin Valley in their previous meeting back in February of 2023, falling 50-45. Can Moapa Valley avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
