It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact the Jonesboro Hurricane can now relate to. They suffered a tough 53-27 loss at the hands of Southside on Friday.
Jonesboro's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performance. Perhaps the best among them was Terrance Brown, who punched in two rushing scores, and also threw for 82 yards and a touchdown while completing 75% of his passes. The team also got some help courtesy of Jordan Daniels, who rushed for 65 yards and a touchdown on only seven carries.
Southside's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Carter Zimmerman, who rushed for 84 yards and three touchdowns on only eight carries, and also threw for 93 yards and a touchdown while completing 71.4% of his passes. Another player making a difference was Amari Tucker, who rushed for 166 yards and a touchdown while picking up 7.5 yards per carry.
Jonesboro now has a losing record at 5-6. As for Southside, their win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 7-4.
Jonesboro does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Southside will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against Fayetteville at 7:00 p.m. on November 17th. Fayetteville is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
