Basketball Recap: Lake Marion Picks Up 15th Consecutive Victory

Lake Marion came tearing into Tuesday's game with 14 straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 22.5 points) and they left with even more momentum. They blew past the Whale Branch Warriors, posting a 62-28 victory. The Gators have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won ten matches by 27 points or more this season.

Lake Marion's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Teonna Allen led the charge by almost dropping a double-double on 11 points and nine boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Harmony McCaskill, who went 7 for 17 on her way to 18 points along with five rebounds and four steals.

Lake Marion was working as a unit and finished the game with 14 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Whale Branch only posted six assists.

When it comes to explaining why Whale Branch lost, don't look at Larmore Pryor. Despite the final result, she posted four points in addition to ten boards and four blocks. The dominant performance gave Pryor a new career-high in blocks. Another player making a difference was Harmony Prejean, who scored nine points along with eight rebounds and six steals.

Lake Marion's win was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 18-1. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 21.6 points per game. As for Whale Branch, their loss dropped their record down to 7-9.

Lake Marion will take on Bridges Prep at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Bridges Prep has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. Whale Branch has already played their next contest, a 38-36 victory against Barnwell on the 5th.
