The Luling Eagles will be playing in front of their home fans against the Marion Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Luling is coming into the contest on a six-game losing streak.
Last Friday, Luling was beaten by Randolph 42-7. Luling was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 28-7.
Meanwhile, Marion pushed their score all the way to 34 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell 41-34 to Cole.
Luling's defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their overall record down to 2-7. The slump could be explained by some tough opposition over that stretch, namely Randolph, Ingram Moore, and Blanco. As for Marion, they now have a losing record at 4-5.
Luling came out on top in a nail-biter against Marion when the teams last played back in November of 2022, sneaking past 28-26. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Marion's Dominic Castellanos, who picked up 127 receiving yards and two touchdowns, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. Now that he won't be playing on Friday, will it be that much easier for Luling to walk away with another win? There's only one way to find out.
