Riggs (Pierre, S.D.) snapped the five-game winning streak of
Watertown (S.D.), with a 34-7 victory on Saturday.
The lead that the Governors took on a touchdown pass by
Alexander Gray to
Austin Christopherson with 8:00 to go in the first quarter stood up for the duration of the game, as neither team managed to score in the second half.
Riggs scored 20 points in the first quarter on the way to a win. RHS scored on an Gray touchdown pass to Christopherson, a touchdown run by
Ethan Case and a touchdown pass by Gray to Christopherson in the quarter.
Watertown's lone touchdown came on a 95-yard kick return by
Shay Bratland in the first quarter.
The Pierre school came into the game allowing 15.3 points per game.
The defeat comes as a step back for Watertown, who notched a 32-14 victory over Yankton in its previous outing.
