Presentation hasn't had much luck against Archbishop Mitty recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. Presentation will square off against Archbishop Mitty at 3:30 p.m.
Presentation is headed into Wednesday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fifth straight game on Saturday. They came up short against San Mateo, falling 7-0.
Presentation saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Allie Malatesta, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base.
Meanwhile, Archbishop Mitty entered their tilt with Branham on Friday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They put the hurt on the Bruins with a sharp 9-3 win. The result was nothing new for the Monarchs, who have now won three contests by six runs or more so far this season.
Kyleigh Mace spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on five hits and racked up seven Ks. She has been consistent : she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts any time she's pitched this season.
At the plate, Olivia Anderson was excellent, going 2-for-5 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI. That triple was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Gracie Giovacchini, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-2.
Archbishop Mitty was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .438. The last time their batting average was this high was back in May of 2024.
Archbishop Mitty's victory was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-1. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.9 runs over those games. As for Presentation, their loss dropped their record down to 4-8.
Wednesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Presentation hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .338. However, it's not like Archbishop Mitty struggles in that department as they've averaged .316. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Presentation might still be hurting after the 10-0 defeat they got from Archbishop Mitty in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Can Presentation avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
