The Amherst County Lancers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their third straight loss. The match between them and Liberty wasn't particularly close, with Amherst County falling 52-36. While losing is never fun, Amherst County can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 261st, while Liberty is ranked 66th).
Amherst County lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Hannah Hooper, who scored ten points along with two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Ania Thompson, who scored six points.
Liberty was led to victory by Brianna Adams and Shania Brown. Adams scored 16 points along with seven assists and five rebounds, while Brown dropped a double-double on 18 points and 15 rebounds. Brown is crushing the rebound category: she's posted at least ten every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Brooke Harrison, who scored three points along with seven rebounds and three blocks.
Amherst County's defeat was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 7-12. As for Liberty, their victory bumped their record up to 13-5.

Hopefully Amherst County focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 22 on Monday.
