Baseball Game Preview: St. Paul Central Minutemen vs. Harding Knights

St. Paul Central is a perfect 10-0 against Harding since May of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Minutemen will take on the Knights at 4:30 p.m. Neither St. Paul Central nor Harding posted many runs in their last games, so it might be the pitching crews that decide this one.

St. Paul Central came into their game on Saturday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They lost 10-0 to Owatonna.

St. Paul Central saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Cooper Entenman, who went 1-for-2 with one double.

Meanwhile, Harding was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They came up short against Como Park, falling 18-0. The matchup marked the first time this season in which the Knights were not able to get on the board.

Harding's defeat dropped their record down to 2-6. As for St. Paul Central, their loss dropped their record down to 2-7.

The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Monday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. St. Paul Central has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 9.9 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Harding struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 9.2 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.

Everything went St. Paul Central's way against Harding when the teams last played back in May of 2024, as St. Paul Central made off with a 25-6 win. Will the Minutemen repeat their success, or do the Knights have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
