After each having a week off, the Notre Dame Green Knights and the Fairfield Prep Jesuits will dust off their jerseys to face off against one another at 7:00 p.m. on November 17th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Connecticut (Notre Dame is ranked 45th, while Fairfield Prep is ranked 29th).
Last Friday, Notre Dame took a serious blow against West Haven, falling 46-6. Notre Dame has not had much luck with West Haven recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
Fairfield Prep fell on hard times earlier this season, but after back-to-back victories it seems like their luck might finally be changing. They came out on top against Xavier by a score of 30-17 on Friday.
Fairfield Prep can attribute much of their success to Tyler Smith, who threw for 187 yards and two touchdowns while completing 79.2% of his passes. Fairfield Prep also got help from Finbar Malloy who showed off his sure hands for 85 receiving yards.
On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Fairfield Prep's defense and their four sacks. Mason Frey was especially locked on to Xavier's QB and sacked him twice.
Notre Dame's loss was their fourth straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 2-6. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 6-2 North Haven and 6-2 New Milford (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 75% over those games). As for Fairfield Prep, their victory bumped their record up to 2-6.
