Football Recap: Chestnut Ridge Skates Past Westmont Hilltop with Ease + How To Watch

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Chestnut Ridge). They simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat the Westmont Hilltop Hilltoppers 55-15. The Lions haven't had any issues with the Hilltoppers recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.

Cooper Barefoot was a one-man wrecking crew as he rushed for 133 yards and two touchdowns on only six carries. He really tore up the turf during one magnificent 72-yard run. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayden Imler, who rushed for 87 yards and a pair of TDs.

Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something Chestnut Ridge proved: they limited Westmont Hilltop to a paltry 0.8 yards per carry. While three picked up at least six total tackles, Barefoot stood above the rest. He rushed for 133 yards and two scores on only six carries. Chestnut Ridge's run defense has been on the up-and-up: they allowed 4.15 yards per carry earlier this season, but they've only allowed 4.87 on average over their last three games.

Chestnut Ridge didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Wyatt Dishong and Cameron Hillegasss. Hillegasss got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Westmont Hilltop's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Derek Gartner, who picked up 75 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns. Gartner also put in work on the defensive side of the ball, making four total tackles and defending one pass in addition to snagging an interception.

Chestnut Ridge's win bumped their record up to 4-5. As for Westmont Hilltop, their loss dropped their record down to 0-9.
