The Farmington Farmers were the 42-41 winner over the Monmouth-Roseville Titans when they last played one another back in December of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. Farmington fell 54-47 to Monmouth-Roseville on Friday. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Farmington came into the match with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 100th, while Monmouth-Roseville is ranked 200th).
Nico Avendano continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Monmouth-Roseville, shooting 4-for-7 from long range and dropping a double-double on 18 points and 12 rebounds. Avendano continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Jake Steele, who scored 6 points along with 7 assists.
Farmington's loss dropped their record down to 3-2. As for Monmouth-Roseville, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-1.
Farmington will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Macomb at 7:30 p.m. Macomb is looking to tack on another W to their four-game streak on the road. Monmouth-Roseville will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Abingdon at 7:30 p.m. on December 18th.
