The Girls Prep Bruisers are taking a road trip to take on the South Pittsburg Pirates at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Girls Prep is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.5 runs per game this season.
Girls Prep barely beat Rhea County the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. Girls Prep blew past Rhea County 8-0 on Friday. The victory continues a trend for the Bruisers in their matchups with the Golden Eagles: they've now won five in a row.
Addison Smith made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits over five innings pitched. Smith was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 3-for-3.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jayla Gladden, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, one triple, and two RBI. Gladden is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: she's snagged at least one every time she's taken the field this season. Another player making a difference was Adrianna Reyes, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.
Girls Prep kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Rhea County didn't got any hits.
Meanwhile, South Pittsburg was able to grind out a solid win over Chattanooga School for the Liberal Arts on Friday, taking the game 4-1. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Pirates.
Kaylee Kilgore spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on three hits and racked up 16 Ks. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in April of 2024.
On the hitting side, South Pittsburg saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Addy Talley, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.
South Pittsburg's victory was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 2-0. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.8 runs over those games. As for Girls Prep, the win got them back to even at 2-2.
