The Brush Beetdiggers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their fourth straight loss. They fell to Ellicott 35-30. If Brush hoped to take revenge for the 56-33 loss against they when the teams met, then they were left disappointed.
Brush's loss came despite strong showings from Jocelynn Middlemist and Sarah Becker. Middlemist dropped a double-double on ten points and 18 rebounds, while Becker scored five points along with four steals. Becker hasn't dropped below two steals for three straight games.
Ellicott can attribute much of their success to Kassiah Ducworth, who scored 18 points along with six rebounds and six blocks. That makes it three consecutive games in which Ducworth has scored at least a third of Ellicott's points. Another player making a difference was Teysia Tacoronte, who scored no points along with ten rebounds and three blocks.
Brush dropped their record down to 2-8 with that defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road. As for Ellicott, their win bumped their record up to 4-7.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Brush will take on Frontier Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Ellicott, their homestand continues as they prepare to take on Manitou Springs at 6:00 p.m. on January 19th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Colorado (Manitou Springs is ranked 207th, while Ellicott is ranked 211th).
