It was a good run, but the Farmington Scorpions unfortunately witnessed the end of their seven-game winning streak on Tuesday. They suffered a tough 64-42 loss at the hands of Sandia. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat Farmington has suffered yet this season.
Despite the loss, Farmington still got an impressive performance from Kapiolani Anitielu, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 12 rebounds. Anitielu hasn't dropped below 15points for four straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Maleah Charlie, who scored four points.
Sydney Benally was her usual excellent self, scoring 28 points for Sandia. Nadia Randall was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with five rebounds and five steals.
Farmington's loss ended a seven-game streak of away wins and brought them to 15-2. As for Sandia, they pushed their record up to 15-2 with that win, which was their 11th straight at home.
Farmington will head out on the road to take on West Mesa at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Sandia, they will look to defend their home court on Saturday against Eldorado at 2:00 p.m. Eldorado has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
